【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareintendedtoprovideabasisforevaluatingthetimeperiodduringwhichbulkheadsanddeckswillcontinuetoperformitsintendedfunctionwhensubjectedtoacontrolled,standardizedfireexposure.5.1.1Inparticular,theselectedstandardexposureconditionsimulatestheconditionoftotalcontinuousengulfmentofamemberorassemblyintheluminousflame(fireplume)areaofalargefree-burningfluidhydrocarbonpoolfire.Thestandardfireexposureisbasicallydefinedintermsofthetotalfluxincidentonthetestspecimentogetherwithappropriatetemperatureconditions.5.1.2Itisrecognizedthatthethermodynamicpropertiesoffree-burning,hydrocarbonfluidpoolfireshavenotbeencompletelycharacterizedandarevariabledependingontheconditions,thephysicalrelationshipofthestructuralmembertotheexposingfire,andotherfactors.Asaresult,theexposurespecifiedinthesetestmethodsisnotnecessarilyrepresentativeofalltheconditionsthatexistinlargehydrocarbonpoolfires.Thespecifiedstandardexposureisbaseduponthebestavailableinformationandtestingtechnology.Itprovidesabasisforcomparingtherelativeperformanceofdifferentassembliesundercontrolledconditions.5.1.3Itisfeasiblethatsubstantialchangesinthefireperformancecharacteristicsoftheassemblywillresultfromanyvariationfromtheconstructionorconditions(thatis,size,methodofassembly,andmaterials)thataretested.Thestructuralassembliesthatwillbeevaluatedinaccordancewiththesetestmethodswillbelocatedonaship.1.1Thesetestmethodsdescribedinthisfire-testresponsestandardareusedfordeterminingthefire-testresponseofinsulatedmarinesteelbulkheadsanddecks.Theinsulationiseitherhomogeneousorcompositeconstruction.1.2Itistheintentthattestsconductedinaccordancewiththesetestmethodswillindicatewhetherbulkheadsanddeckswillcontinuetoperformtheirintendedfunctionduringtheperiodoffireexposure.Thesetestmethodsshallnotbeconstruedasimplyingsuitabilityforuseafterfireexposure.1.3Thesetestmethodsprescribeastandardfireexposureforcomparingtherelativeperformanceofdifferentbulkheadanddeckassembliesundercontrolledlaboratoryconditions.Theapplicationofthesetestresultstopredicttheperformanceofactualassemblieswhenexposedtolargepoolfiresrequiresacarefulengineeringevaluation.1.4Limitations-Thesetestmethodsdonotprovidethefollowing:1.4.1Fullinformationontheperformanceofassembliesconstructedwithcomponentsorofdimensionsotherthanthosetested.1.4.2Anevaluationofthedegreetowhichtheassemblycontributestothefirehazardthroughthegenerationofsmoke,toxicgases,orotherproductsofcombustion.1.4.3Measurementofflamespreadoverthesurfaceofthetestassembly.1.4.4Theerosiveeffectthatthevelocitiesorturbulence,orboth,generatedinlargepoolfireshasonsomefireprotectionmaterials.1.4.5Fullinformationontheperformanceofassembliesattimeslessthan5minbecausetherisetimecalledoutinSectionislongerthanthatofarealfire.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforapproximateinformationonly.1.6Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfire-riskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.7ThistestmethodisbasedonthefireexposureasdefinedinTestMethodsE1529(issuedbytheCommitteeonFireStandards,E05).Thisstandarddoesnot......
