【摘要】:Representativesamplesoffuelproductsandassociatedsubstancesarerequiredforthedeterminationofmicrobialcontaminationinfuelsandfuelsystemsinordertoaccuratelyassessthebiodeteriorationriskposedtothefuel,fuel-systemcomponentsorboth.Uncontrolledmicrobialcontaminationcanaffectfuelspecificationpropertiesadversely.AsdiscussedinGuideD6469,microbescancauseavarietyofoperationalproblems,includingfilterpluggingandmicrobiallyinfluencedcorrosion(MIC),thelatterofwhichcausesvalvefailure,tankandpipelinefailure.Thesepracticesformicrobiologicalsamplingdecreasetheriskofcontaminatingsampleswithextraneousmicrobes,therebyincreasingtheprobabilitythattheoriginalmicrobialpopulationinthesampledoesnotchangesignificantlybetweenthetimeofsamplingandthetimeoftesting.Theobjectiveofsamplingformicrobiologicaltestingistoobtainarepresentativesamplethatislikelytoreflectthedegreeandnatureofmicrobialcontaminationinthesystemfromwhichthesampleiscollected.Manual47addressestherationalforanddesignofmicrobialcontaminationprograms.Thephysical,chemicalandmicrobiologicalpropertyteststobeperformedonasamplewilldictatethesamplingprocedures,thesamplequantityrequired,andmanyofthesamplehandlingrequirements.Fuelsystemsarenotnormallydesignedtofacilitateoptimalmicrobiologicalsampling.Consequently,theselectionofsamplingdeviceandsamplesourcereflectcompromisesbetweenaccessibilityandsuitabilityformeetingthesamplecollectionobjective.TheguidanceprovidedinPracticeD4057generallyappliestothispracticeaswell.Consequently,thispracticewilladdressonlythoseproceduresthatapplyuniquelytomicrobiologicalsampling.1.1Thispracticecoversaspectsofsampledevicepreparationandsamplehandlingthatpreventsamplesfrombecomingcontaminatedwithmicroorganismsnotoriginallycontainedwithinthesample.1.2Thispracticealsocoverssamplehandlingconsiderationsthatreflecttheperishabilityofsamplescollectedformicrobiologicaltesting.1.3ThispracticesupplementsPracticeD4057byprovidingguidancespecifictothemanualsamplingoffuelswhensamplesaretobetestedformicrobialcontamination.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
